On February 3rd, the 9th Spring Festival Gala for Primary and Secondary Schools in St. Petersburg was grandly held. It was sponsored by the Consulate - General of China in St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Municipal Government, and jointly organized by the Confucius Classroom at St. Petersburg of Shandong Normal University and the National No. 32 Middle School on Vasilyevsky Island. More than 230 students from the Confucius Classroom and local educational institutions jointly presented a wonderful performance full of Chinese elements.

　　The Spring Festival Gala kicked off with the beautiful melody of “Jasmine Flower“. Teachers and students from the Confucius Institute and 17 national primary and secondary schools in St. Petersburg presented a unique cultural feast. Dances such as “The Charm of China“ and “Lotus Valley“, Chinese martial arts, the waltz “Spring Breeze Kisses My Face“, the ballet “When Ballet Meets Spring Festival“, the song “I Love You, China“, and the face - changing in Sichuan Opera continuously pushed the atmosphere of the gala to a climax.

　　During the Spring Festival, the Confucius Institute also carefully planned more than 10 celebration and performance activities, including cultural and artistic performances, cultural master classes (calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, paper - cutting, rubbing, and flash mob dances, etc.), and Chinese open classes. It is expected that more than 5,000 people will participate.
