Taiwan media exposed that the military on the island has newly established a high-level “joint firepower coordination center” to coordinate its overcomplicated firepower deployment, with US personnel involved amid US-made equipment’s commissioning. A Chinese mainland expert on Monday slammed the move as a futile attempt to resist reunification and seek “independence” by relying on the US.
Against the backdrop of military services on the island of Taiwan successively taking delivery of US-made firepower equipment, coupled with the various types of “domestically developed” special-mission missiles currently in service, the island’s defense authority has newly established a “joint firepower coordination center” of the highest level at a military compound in, Taipei, Taiwan media United Daily News (UDN) reported late on Sunday.
The center is tasked with coordinating the asymmetric firepower deployment across all military branches. In addition, US personnel hold a large number of seats in the coordination center, and the island and the US have already conducted multiple joint staff exercises, the UDN report claimed.
