Recently, the "Bookish Lingang · Seeing Beauty in Reading" 2026 Lingang District National Reading Theme Event kicked off at the Lingang Cultural Center. The event attracted over 100 participants, including primary and secondary school students, community residents, reading enthusiasts, and international friends, sparking a nationwide reading craze through an immersive cultural experience.
Among the crowd, many foreign faces stood out. Students from Weihai Zhongshi School for Children of Foreign Personnel were experiencing the joy of Chinese calligraphy under the guidance of teachers from the Lingang District Calligraphers Association. Shin Min-cheol, a Korean student, held a brush with great seriousness. Although writing Chinese characters was somewhat difficult for him, his face beamed with delight: "Chinese characters are not easy to write, but every stroke is beautiful. This immersive calligraphy experience is both novel and unforgettable for me. I truly feel the unique charm of Chinese culture."
The interaction and integration of Chinese and foreign cultures became a major highlight of the event.
