China has achieved its first successful controlled recovery of a carrier rocket’s first stage. The Long March 10B carrier rocket blasted off from the Hainan Commercial Aerospace Launch Site. Approximately six minutes after the separation of the rocket’s first and second stages, the first stage made a vertical return and was successfully recovered on an offshore recovery platform. This is also the world’s first net-capture recovery of a carrier rocket.
