This trend takes on added significance this year, which marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March (1934-1936). The arduous journey helped lay the foundation for the eventual victory of the Chinese revolution.
Dai Bin, president of the China Tourism Academy, said the flow of visitors to revolutionary landmarks reflects people's emotional identification with revolutionary traditions.
When they travel, they don't just want to see history. They also want to draw deeper inspiration from the revolutionary legacy for their lives today, Dai noted.
Measures to boost tourism consumption have also helped expand holiday options for visitors and enhance their travel experiences.
Under a nationwide cultural and tourism consumption campaign running from late September through October, local authorities have organized a variety of activities and distributed more than 310 million yuan in consumption subsidies.■
