According to DEEP Robotics, the LYNX M20S robot dog is designed for challenging terrain and harsh outdoor use. It features an IP67 protection rating, allowing it to operate in dusty and rainy conditions, and operates in temperatures ranging from -30C to 55C. The robot can carry a sustained load of 35 kilograms and has a battery life of up to 3.5 hours.

Its wheeled-legged design combines the efficiency of wheels with the agility of legs, allowing it to handle rocky paths, steep slopes, undergrowth and muddy terrain. The company said its industrial-grade waterproof and dustproof capabilities make it suitable for humid forest environments, while its load capacity enables it to transport imaging devices and small field supplies.

One notable result from the expedition was the robot dog"s successful capture of images of a rare saprophytic plant known as "Monotropa uniflora."

Chinese scientists aid the footage provides valuable firsthand visual material and adds important data for botanical research.

The case indicates that embodied AI is helping researchers overcome observation limits in complex natural environments.

According to the company, the LYNX M20S robot dog"s quiet operation and small sizehelp it blend into the forest and approach gibbons without disturbing them. Its high-definition imaging system provides multiple viewing angles, including upward and side shots under the canopy, allowing researchers to record natural behaviors such as leaping, foraging, and vocalizing. Its low-disturbance design also let the expedition team move about 20 meters closer for better filming angles.
