BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- China is extending information accessibility to more areas, particularly those closely related to the daily lives of people with disabilities and older adults, according to a report.
The report on the implementation of the Law on Building Accessible Environments was submitted on Tuesday to the ongoing session of the Standing Committee of the National People"s Congress, the country"s top legislature, for deliberation.
The report said accessible information and communication services have improved in both quality and coverage.
By the end of 2025, about 11,000 websites run by Party and government bodies had been upgraded to improve accessibility, while more than 3,100 websites, mobile apps and mini-programs commonly used by people with disabilities and older adults had undergone accessibility and age-friendly upgrades.
The use of smart technologies in accessible information services has also expanded, with artificial intelligence (AI) being applied in areas such as sign-language broadcasting and the development of accessible facilities, the report said.
Accessibility services in education, healthcare, culture and tourism have also continued to improve. Public libraries across China now offer more than 40,000 seats in reading rooms for people with visual impairments, while more than 1,700 reading rooms provide cultural services tailored to their needs.
