Under Guo Xuqian's guidance, the students picked up brushes to paint Peking Opera masks. Although peonies did not directly appear on the masks, Guo ingeniously incorporated the cultural symbolism of peonies into the lesson. He encouraged the students to use delicate strokes and rich colors to create a sense of depth and dimension in their masks, much like the softness and vibrancy of peony petals. As they worked, the students infused their creations with their understanding of peony culture, producing a series of unique and imaginative mask designs that showcased their creative expression and appreciation for Chinese culture.

Next, Guo Xuqian led the students in learning a segment of the Peking OperaDrunken Concubine. He explained the vocal techniques and performance artistry of Peking Opera in detail and personally demonstrated the classic aria. Under his guidance, the students sang with youthful yet passionate voices, expressing Yang Guifei's tender emotions as she admired the peonies. The melodious tunes and intricate singing filled the classroom, transporting everyone to the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty and allowing them to experience the elegance and depth of Yang Guifei's character.

After the event, the students were reluctant to leave, eagerly expressing their love and admiration for Chinese culture. One student exclaimed, “I had no idea Peking Opera was so beautiful! Mr. Guo's explanation of peony culture helped me understand the unique charm of Chinese art.“ Another student added, “This event gave me a deeper appreciation for traditional Chinese culture. I want to learn more about Peking Opera in the future.“
