Chinese President Xi Jinping’s proposal to build a community with a shared future for humanity demonstrates the foresight and broad vision of a leader of a major country, and answers the era’s question of where humanity should be headed. It aims to present the world that humanity’s enemies are not one another, but war, poverty, hunger and injustice. These challenges cannot be tackled alone, nor can any country remain unaffected. We must unite, cooperate, and work together for our shared planet. Isolation leads to helplessness; unity brings strength. The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the rise of a major country with a population of 1.4 billion will never follow the old path of seeking hegemony and expansion taken by traditional major powers.
