Kids at a kindergarten in Jimo district of Qingdao, Shandong province, took part in a lively class on Thursday, painting colorful eggs and trying to balance them upright to welcome the upcoming Spring Equinox, called chun fen in Chinese.
This year"s Spring Equinox, when day and night are nearly equal, falls on Friday.

During the class, teachers at Taoyuanhe Road Kindergarten guided children in decorating eggs with bright colors and patterns before encouraging them to gently balance the eggs on a tabletop. Laughter filled the classroom as the children carefully experimented, enjoying the challenge and fun of the traditional game.

A popular saying goes, "At the Spring Equinox, eggs stand upright," and legend says that this day makes it easier to balance eggs. Through these hands-on activities, the kindergarten aims to deepen children"s understanding of traditional Chinese culture while celebrating the arrival of spring.
