Beneath the lush greenery of Wendeng’s Shengjing Mountain, a young Swiss man is practicing his punches with intense focus. His movements are swift, his strikes as quick as the wind, and each posture reveals the strength and agility of Praying Mantis Fist. It is hard to imagine that Loïc, this foreign young man who performs the forms so proficiently, has only just arrived in Wendeng.

Loïc has been fascinated by Chinese kung fu since childhood. Upon learning that Praying Mantis Fist originated in Shandong, he made the bold decision to travel thousands of miles to study the art. “I came here to learn the most authentic Praying Mantis Fist,” says Loïc. He plans to stay for three months, devoting himself to intense practice. When asked about his impressions of Wendeng, Loïc gives a thumbs-up with a smile: “The people here are incredibly friendly, and the city is clean and quiet. I’ve truly fallen in love with this place.”
