At this year"s Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou, some of the most revealing artificial intelligence (AI) products were not necessarily the biggest or the flashiest. One helped scholars trace historical references more efficiently. Another folded clothes. AI glasses targeted everyday interactions, while robots moved further into household and service scenarios.
As the five-day expo concluded on Sunday in Hangzhou, East China"s Zhejiang Province, a notable trend emerged: AI products are moving closer to real consumer and industry needs, with increasingly specific problems becoming the starting point for technological development.
Industry observers said that growing consumer demand is reshaping AI innovation across wearables, robotics and specialized applications, pushing developers to focus more closely on concrete uses and everyday needs.
Major technology players naturally drew attention.
Chinese leading augmented-reality and AI hardware company Rokid used the global debut of its second-generation AI glasses to show how AI hardware is moving closer to everyday consumer needs. The glasses retain functions such as photography, translation, prompting, navigation and payment, while adding stronger imaging, longer battery life and lighter wear, Rokid told the Global Times in a statement on Sunday.
